Tender juicy chicken that is packed with flavour and very popular in Middle Eastern kitchens! The chicken is marinated with yogurt, garlic and spices, skewered and grilled to perfection. It’s great served with my garlic sauce and salad or rice.
If you’re a sandwich lover, wrap the chicken with some lettuce, garlic sauce and some veggies! So so good!
HOW DO I MAKE IT?
This recipe is all about the marinade. I’ve played around with a few recipes and really love this one. The yogurt and lemon act as a tenderizer for the chicken while the ketchup & paprika gives that perfect red/orange hue.
Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl until combined. Then, cut the chicken into 1 inch cubes and add it to the marinade. You’ll want to let this sit in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or up to overnight.
Skewer the chicken then grill until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees.
TIPS FOR MAKING SHISH TAWOUK:
1. Marinate the chicken for at least 3 hours to get flavourful chicken.
2. Soak your skewers in water for about 20 minutes before skewering the chicken.
3. Cover the chicken with pita bread once it comes off the grill. The pita bread helps keep the chicken warm. It’s often served this way.
