Beef Egg Rolls

A delicious Lebanese appetizer that is popular for a mezze spread but also popular during the holy month of Ramadan. These beef egg rolls are a must on your dinner table! They’re filled with spiced beef and onions then deep fried to crunchy perfection! I like to make these anytime of the year, they’re quick and easy to make and are so delicious!

I learned how to make these egg rolls from my Aunt. She made them once for a party and as soon as I tried them, I knew I had to get the recipe! They’re so good!

HOW DO I MAKE THEM?
These egg rolls require just a few ingredients. Beef, onions, spices and egg rolls wraps! I’ve seen these made using spring roll pastry but I prefer them using the egg rolls.
You’ll start by sautéing onion with olive oil for about 5-7 minutes until the onions are translucent then you’ll add the ground beef and spices. Once the beef is cooked through, I like to drain it to remove any liquid from the beef and then allow it to cool completely before I start rolling.
You’ll take an egg roll wrap and place it on a flat surface then add about 2 tablespoons of the beef filling to a corner of the wrap leaving about 1 inch space from the edge. Fold the wrap over the filling and tuck it underneath. Start to roll the wrap folding the sides to the center to close off the edges. Then add a little water to the edge of the corner and continue rolling to seal it off.
Once you’ve rolled all the egg rolls, you’ll deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.

TIPS FOR MAKING EGG ROLLS:
1. Make sure the filling has cooled completely before you start rolling.
2. Keep a damp paper towel over the wraps to prevent them from drying out.
3. Make sure your oil is hot! (350 degrees).
4. Stay close to the oil when frying, they don’t take long to cook.
5. Make these ahead of time and freeze them. When you’re ready to make them allow them to defrost for 10 minutes at room temperature before deep frying.

Sounds like a great recipe. You mention 7 spices but didn’t tell us what the spices are. Can you give me that info so mine will turn out as delicious as yours, thank you!

Hi! The spice is called 7-spices. You can find it in any ethnic store 🙂
