Who doesn’t love the smell and taste of fresh bread?!This is the only dough recipe you’ll ever need! You can use it for pizza, calzones, cinnamon buns, cheese & zaatar pies, the ideas are endless! When baked, it has a soft and fluffy texture that has you going back quickly for the next bite!
I love this recipe because it comes together in about 10 minutes! I melt the butter with milk & salt in one bowl while the yeast, water & sugar proof in a separate bowl. Everything goes into my stand mixer and that’s when I add the flour. I prefer to use a stand mixer for this recipe since the whole process is quick and easy but if you don’t have one, you can simply knead the dough by hand.
Once the milk mixture and yeast mixture is in the mixing bowl with the dough hook, I start out with 4 cups of flour then slowly add the remaining flour as needed. This recipe will use 5-6 cups of flour. Once the dough forms a bowl and no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl, the dough is ready! I transfer the dough to a greased bowl and cover.
PRO TIP: I like to place the dough in my oven with the oven light on. The heat from the light gives off just enough warmth for the dough to rise. DO NOT turn on your oven – just the light.
After about an hour to an hour and a half, the dough should have doubled in size and is ready to be used for your favourite bread recipes!
